800 containers shuttling between Yiwu and Ningbo

Ningbo-jinhua Expressway, put into use on December 26,2005, shortens the trip between Ningbo and Jinhua by 2 hours. Over the past 5 months, commodities from Yiwu have been continuously transported to different parts of the world through this Expressway, an out-ward-bound road. According to the statistics from the eastern entrance to Yiwu, about 800 containers have shuttled between Ningbo Port and Yiwu market every day, and this number is increasing.
The latest statistics of Ningbo traffic management bureau shows that in the first quarter of this year ovr 1/3 of foreign trade commodities from Jinhua(Yiwu), Quzhou were cleared through Ningbo port, 51.1% up over the same period of last year, higher than the natural growth. Furthermore, Ningbo-jinhua Expressway has become an important channel for provinces like Hubei, Fujian and Jiangxi to export their goods and in the first 3 months the above mentioned provinces saw increase in their import & export trade volume via Ningbo port by 110%, 75.2% and 140% respectively.
